This project is a systemic RPG experience built in Unreal Engine, focused on combining multiple gameplay layers into a cohesive and mechanically meaningful design.

A core pillar of the project is the dual camera system, integrating both first-person and third-person perspectives as active gameplay mechanics. Rather than functioning as optional viewpoints, each perspective directly impacts player decision-making. First-person mode prioritizes immersion, precision, and high-risk close combat, while third-person mode enhances spatial awareness and tactical positioning. The need to dynamically switch between both introduces an additional strategic layer to exploration and combat.

The AI system is driven by behavior trees, enabling enemies to react contextually to the player and the environment. NPCs are capable of detecting visual and auditory stimuli, taking cover, retreating under pressure, and adapting their behavior based on combat conditions. This creates emergent encounters and reduces predictability, reinforcing a gameplay loop centered around observation and tactical planning.

Sound is implemented as a mechanical system rather than a passive element. Player-generated noise—such as missed attacks, movement speed, or environmental interaction—can alert nearby enemies, effectively integrating stealth and risk management into moment-to-moment gameplay.

From a visual perspective, the project explores a hybrid approach that merges 2D sprite-based characters with 3D environments using pixel-textured materials and voxel elements. This results in a modern reinterpretation of 2.5D, balancing performance, readability, and a distinctive visual identity.

Combat design prioritizes decision-making over reflex, incorporating stamina management, positioning, and enemy behavior analysis. This encourages players to engage thoughtfully rather than relying on repetitive or purely action-driven inputs.

The project also includes a cooperative multiplayer campaign for up to four players, supported by interconnected systems such as inventory management, player statistics, a dynamic day–night cycle, object interaction, and survival mechanics. These systems are designed to work together as part of a unified gameplay loop that blends progression, exploration, and cooperation.

From a technical standpoint, the project leverages Unreal Engine systems such as PaperZD for animation workflows, enabling efficient integration of 2D assets within a 3D environment while maintaining flexibility for future scalability.

Finally, the project is being developed with long-term expansion and community involvement in mind, including plans for modding support and user-generated content, ensuring sustainability beyond initial release.
